Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 9, 2026

1. Overview

This Privacy Policy explains how Sengoku ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, stores, and protects personal data when you use sengokuworld.com, the Sengoku web game, and the Sengoku Steam client.

Sengoku is an online game that requires a permanent internet connection. You can play in a web browser or through the Steam desktop client, which loads the same live game service.

2. Data We Collect

Depending on how you use Sengoku, we may process the following categories of data:

  • Account data: username, email address, password hash, account status, roles, and verification state.
  • Steam account data: if you sign in with Steam or link a Steam account, we store your Steam ID and related authentication data needed to sign you in and process Steam Wallet purchases.
  • Google account data: if you use Google sign-in, we store the identifiers and email address provided by Google for authentication.
  • Gameplay and profile data: in-game progress, inventory, currency balances, achievements, messages, forum posts, crew information, and other game activity generated while you play.
  • Support data: help desk tickets, reports, and communications you send to staff.
  • Security and technical data: login history, session identifiers, IP addresses, browser or client information, and anti-abuse signals used to protect accounts and the game economy.
  • Payment metadata: for Ryo purchases through Steam Wallet, we store order references, package identifiers, transaction status, and related billing metadata. Payment card or wallet funding details are handled by Valve/Steam, not by us directly.

3. How We Use Data

We use personal data to:

  • create and manage accounts, authenticate logins, and enforce single-session security;
  • operate gameplay systems, premium features, achievements, and the in-game economy;
  • process Steam Wallet purchases and deliver purchased Ryo or related entitlements;
  • provide customer support, investigate abuse, and enforce our rules;
  • maintain service security, detect fraud, and prevent exploits or unauthorized automation;
  • comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests.

4. Steam Integration

If you use Steam sign-in, link a Steam account, buy Ryo with Steam Wallet, or play through the Steam client, Valve processes additional data under its own privacy policy. We receive only the information needed to authenticate you, complete purchases, and sync Steam achievements when you use the Steam client.

Steam OpenID, Steam Microtransactions, and Steam achievements are provided by Valve. Please review Valve's privacy documentation for details about how Steam handles your data.

5. Sharing and Processors

We do not sell your personal data. We may share data only when necessary to operate the service, including with:

  • Valve / Steam: authentication, payments, achievements, and distribution through Steam.
  • Google: if you choose Google sign-in.
  • Infrastructure providers: hosting, email delivery, security monitoring, and database services that help us run Sengoku.
  • Authorities: when required by law or to protect users, staff, or the integrity of the service.

6. Cookies and Similar Technologies

Sengoku uses session cookies and similar technologies that are necessary to keep you logged in, protect forms with CSRF tokens, remember security settings, and operate core game functionality.

We do not use Hotjar or similar session-recording analytics on the public game experience.

7. Retention

We retain personal data for as long as your account exists and as needed to operate the game, resolve disputes, enforce rules, maintain financial records, and meet legal obligations. Some logs and security records may be kept for a limited period after account closure where required for abuse prevention or compliance.

8. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to certain processing of your personal data, and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

Registered players can contact us through the in-game Help Desk for privacy-related requests. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request.

9. Children

Sengoku is not directed at children under the age required by applicable law to consent to online services without parental approval. If you believe a child has provided personal data to us without appropriate consent, contact us through the in-game Help Desk.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of Sengoku after changes become effective means you accept the revised policy.

11. Contact
